Place of Origin: Thailand
Pad Thai is a national dish in Thailand. If you are visiting Thailand, you can taste their Pad Thai dish with their very own flavors. I can remember the time I visited Thailand with my family, We had the chance to eat their flavorsome foods. We eagerly wanted to try their street food. Therefore, we tried Pad Thai from a street vendor in Thailand, and it was yummy. We witness the way how she made the dish. At that moment I also want to try Homemade Pad Thai.
I checked different kinds of websites and done my research on how to make pad thai at home. From what I gathered, I combined few ideas and tried different ways of making them. This is the best I could come up with and it is delicious and gives the same taste as what we had in Thailand.
How to make pad thai: Pad Thai dish consists of Stir-fried rice noodles, tofu, dried shrimp, bean sprout, eggs, garlic, red chili, pepper, and sugar. You can also add Chicken, Fish, or any other meat of your choice. It is popular around the world for its deliciousness. We got the chance to taste the Chicken Pad Thai when we were in Thailand.
A vegetarian version is also available, for that you can do without adding fish sauce, shrimp, or any meat.
The below version of Pad Thai could have slightly deviated from the original Thailand dish, this is our very own “Homemade Pad Thai” dish which you can make at home easily and enjoy the same flavor with your family.
Prepare rice noodles or flat noodles.
Make sure to cook your rice noodles quickly and evenly. If the noodles are still hard add little water and don’t over boil the noodles. You have to keep checking it once it comes to boiling temperature.
Now, get a separate bowl and combine soy sauce, lime, sugar, tamarind paste, curry paste, garlic, fish sauce, and chicken stock and put aside.
Place oil in a frying pan or a large wok, over medium heat and add beaten egg, scrambled them, and push to side of the pan/wok.
To the same pan/wok, add chili and prawns, sauté for 3 min
Add carrots/leeks [or both] and green onions
Add sauce and continue to sauté until prawns are cooked through.
Adjust salt for your taste.
Add bean sprouts at the end to retain their crunchy texture and color.
Stir all together with the cooked rice noodles
Once done, remove it from the flame.
Sprinkled the dish with crushed peanuts and coriander.
Now our Pad Thai dish is ready to serve!
